MY 10 YEAR JOURNEY IN GRAPHIC DESIGN
MY 10 YEAR JOURNEY IN GRAPHIC DESIGN
Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Naresuan University with a GPA of 3.13.
In my final year of study, I interned as a programmer at Dinsor Advertising.
Programmer - After completing my internship, I worked as a programmer. My job was to develop websites together with project managers and graphic designers, using multiple programming languages such as HTML and CSS to create and edit website structures, connect to databases using PHP, and use Java to help design website features to make them more appealing.
After working for a while, I started getting more involved in web design with the graphic design team and designing some websites myself.
I design websites using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) codes with project managers and senior programmers. I use CSS codes to reduce the design steps through design programs. The website that I manage both coding and illustrating is a legal information collection website called www.inewlaw.com
I also use the CSS web design method on many other websites, mostly event websites that require speed of use. For example, the short film contest website of Happy Company, now DTAC Company.
In 2014, I started a new job producing a law magazine and a magazine related to government organizations, both in e-book and printed form. The process starts with meeting with journalists and lawyers to discuss important laws that the public should know at that time.
The editor then summarizes the laws and articles. After that, I am responsible for finding and creating illustrations for the articles. The fun part of every book is the cover, which will interpret important articles in that book into interesting images. In some articles where the law is difficult to understand, there may be infographics to explain the article more to make it easier to understand.
I started working during the beginning of social media, which was when various media began to change from offline media to online media, and there was an expansion of consumer behavior in using social media as the main media to communicate with consumers, such as advertising on Facebook and videos on YouTube.
I began working at TANEE GRAPHIC, a Thai advertising company specializing in the design of diverse advertising media. This includes printed materials such as leaflets, brochures, catalogs, magazines, storefront media, and packaging, as well as online media, 3D design for booths and exhibitions, store design, and event design.
My job is to draw illustrations, create storyboards with the video editing team, work on online advertising images, receive pre-production from the Account Executives, and finish the work myself.
Back to printing again, but it's a different job from magazines and books. This time I learned about making packaging in various forms, both in the form of bags for snacks and food and in the form of boxes for small to large items. Each piece has a different pattern and different creative methods. It's a job that I do together with Account Executives, Marketing, and business owners, and another duty that I have to be responsible for is contacting and talking to the printing house about the correctness of the size and color of the packaging.
Packaging is another design job that I like because it is a design job that has to start calculating from the shape and pattern that must be included. And importantly, it's a tangible design.
In late 2017, I was promoted to Senior Graphic Designer. In this role, my responsibilities extended beyond design to include coaching and leading the organization's graphic design team. I managed a team of five designers on various projects, including marketing campaigns and branding.
I also initiated and managed media and product design projects for clients, working closely with marketing and business owners to develop and design client submissions that met their specific goals.
I began overseeing media and graphic design for major clients such as John Deere Tractors and Sanofi Pharmaceuticals.
In 2018, I developed and managed online and offline media and graphic content for John Deere. I collaborated with Account Executives and the marketing team to communicate product information and promotions to John Deere tractor customers. Our goal was to drive sales and educate customers about John Deere tractors and products.
In 2019, the pharmaceutical company Sanofi commissioned a project to design new characters for use in their internal and external media. I created characters representing diverse age groups, designed for clear communication and versatile use across Sanofi's media. The final character designs featured large eyes, a deliberate choice to enhance emotional expression and facilitate audience comprehension.
Following the character design completion, they were implemented in educational materials about various diseases, including information about COVID-19, which would spread the following year. My work for Sanofi primarily focused on developing educational media to enhance public understanding of various diseases and preventive measures. I hope that this work has provided valuable information to its audience.
Another project I did in 2020 was creating a game for Sanofi, a pharmaceutical company, to educate people about dengue fever, which is transmitted by mosquitoes.
To play, match the color of your mosquito swatter to the color of the mosquitoes you hit to score points. If you miss a mosquito (they will enter an area where they can bite you), your heart score decreases. You have 20 seconds to complete the game. Upon completion, you'll answer dengue fever questions. Correct answers earn heart points, allowing you to advance to the next level.
Managed and created content on social media for Betago Company, which has expanded its market to sell abroad, such as in Laos and Cambodia, and now wants to create content to promote products there. This is a job done in collaboration with Account Executives and marketing. To address the challenges of COVID-19, its subsidiary company launched a food ordering app for Betago products, delivered to homes via the ARP24 app.
In 2021, I had the opportunity to collaborate with SCG on the launch of 'UVT,' a new outdoor flooring tile model from SCG. This model marked a significant innovation in the outdoor flooring tile industry with the introduction of "Ultimate Virtual Technology". This cutting-edge technology creates realistic colors and patterns on cement tile surfaces, inspired by natural stone formations.
Central Retail – Towards the end of this year, I had the opportunity to oversee Central Retail's media work, encompassing internal news distribution and operational training materials. This project was conducted in partnership with Account Executives and Human Resources.
Philips Avent – Furthermore, I oversee the Philips Avent account, working with Pumpnom, a Thai maternal and child product company. Pumpnom, the official distributor of Philips Avent, requires my support in this area. This role involves close cooperation with Account Executives and the Marketing department.
In 2022, Huawei hosted the 'HDD HUAWEI DEVELOPER DAY Better Together' event, featuring a smartwatch theme design contest. I designed a pixel-themed watch face, titled 'Alien Friend'.
Concept - Nowadays, it's easier to stay in touch with our friends, no matter where they are in the world. But what if we could keep in touch with friends from outside the world? You can find 'alien' friends on your watch face today.
The award ceremony was held in Malaysia, allowing me to travel and meet new friends. It was a great experience to be part of this project.
I've also frequently had the opportunity to give talks at companies and educational institutions, giving design talks and teaching the use of design programs.
This started during COVID-19 when I was invited to give several live online design talks. After COVID-19, I traveled to different locations to give talks about design and teach Photoshop and Illustrator. My teaching allowed me to meet many students, office workers, and business owners. I am glad that everyone is interested in art and design.
✦ NEW ASSISTANT ✦
He works fast. He helps me make my ideas and creativity come to life and make them concrete. He also helps me reduce the steps in work and gives me more time to be creative.
This year, I got an AI to help me design. I've integrated several AIs (Gemini, Bing, adobe firefly, Flux, ChatGPT, Midjourney) into my design and workflow, making this year's work more unique and efficient.
Retouching that once took hours can now be done in ten minutes, and drawings that took days can be completed in the blink of an eye.
